Special Olympics Missouri

A nonprofit organization

Special Olympics Missouri serves the largest population of individuals with a disability - those with intellectual disabilities. Comprehensive, Total Athlete Programs include sports training and competition, health and wellness, leadership, and youth/student engagement.

The benefits of participation in training and competition are substantial for our athletes, with an overwhelming consensus among athletes, coaches, and family members that there is significant improvement in athletes' sense of self, social skills, and social interactions due to their participation in Special Olympics.

At Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO), we empower people with intellectual disabilities to discover their strengths, develop lifelong skills, and experience the joy of belonging.

Your support helps provide:

  • Sports & Competition â€“ Life-changing opportunities that build confidence, friendships, and resilience.

  • Health & Wellness â€“ Screenings, education, and resources that ensure athletes live longer, healthier lives.

  • Leadership Programs â€“ Training that gives athletes a voice as advocates and leaders in their communities.

  • Unified Schools & Sports â€“ Programs that bring people with and without disabilities together to break down barriers.

  • Young Athletes® â€“ Early childhood programs that lay the foundation for active, healthy lives.

With your gift, SOMO athletes don’t just play sports, they gain confidence, independence, and acceptance. Together, we are building a stronger Missouri where everyone belongs.
