Special Olympic's gave me courage, confidence, and respect. It gave me an opportunity to participate in sports. I’m glad to be in the Special Olympics Hall of Fame. I play pickleball, bocce, bowling, track and field, and golf.
Shirlene is a member of both our Columbia Parks and Rec and Mid Mo teams. She has competed for 39 years. She has been awarded Central Area Athlete of the Year 2005, Central Area Athlete of the Year 2006, Outstanding Athlete of the Year 2006, and was inducted in the Special Olympics Missouri Hall of Fame in 2007.
