Jaxon Mistkowski: Special Olympics Athlete

Jaxon started special Olympics in 2026 with basketball. We had tried sports outside of Special Olympics and it never worked out. Jaxon has his first tournament and got all 6 of his shots. He was absolutely over the moon. I watched him navigate on overstimulating gym and keep his composure and work up the courage to step foot in the gym with so many people. He found a confidence in himself that I can not explain in words. He participated in track after that and he did soooo good! He got a 1st place medal in the 100-meter meter dash and that unlocked a whole new level of confidence in him. We are forever thankful for SOMO and the opportunity to for him he isn’t “different” he’s special and talented in his own ways. He conquered scary situations and he can overcome the challenges we never thought possible.
