Support Grassroots Redeeming Love!

Hi, my name is Dorris and I am a volunteer and board member of Grassroots Redeeming Love which is a non-profit which was created to assist with tornado relief and rebuilding efforts from the May 16th tornado. When the May 16 tornado hit, I actually was not in St. Louis; I was out of town on a birthday trip and my birthday was the day before. Because of that, I only knew a tornado hit St. Louis due to the number of concerned text messages that were sent to me. At that time, I did not understand the scale of the damage that the tornado caused. When I returned back to St. Louis, reality set in. I immediately went from "birthday mode" to "boots on the ground mode" and I participated in mass supply distribution events and debris cleaning. 

I started volunteering with Grassroots Redeeming Love last July when looking for debris cleaning volunteering opportunities after a number of organizations I volunteered with were transitioning from mass supply distribution and debris cleaning to a different phase.

 Examples of activities I have participated in as a Grassroots Redeeming Love volunteer is a Back to School supply drive at Fountain Park, assisting with resident relocation, being boots on the ground for time sensitive debris removal needed to start home repair projects, and supporting other organizations such as supporting the St. Louis Urban League's Holiday Toy Giveaway.

 As the one year anniversary of the tornado approaches, there is still a lot of work to do in North City. Such work requires not only people, but money. For this year's Give STL Day, I am aiming to raise $500. Please consider donating to Grassroots Redeeming Love which will allow them continue their mission in assisting North City in tornado recovery and rebuilding.
