All Eyes on North City
Grassroots Redeeming Love (GRL) was born out of the devastating May 16th Tornado that tore through North City. When we say Grassroots, we mean it. Our Executive Director, Ginelle Bess, showed up in North City on May 17th and hasn't looked back. Our Board, our volunteers, our donors, each play a pivotal role in the loving, dedicated community that is GRL.
We work directly with residents in Fountain Park, The Ville, Kingshighway East, Academy, Penrose and O'Fallon Neighborhoods; everything from cleaning debris, to rebuilding homes, to loving on our community, GRL continues to respond and show up where we're needed.
Through selfless volunteers and community donations, we've been able to accomplish so much!

Helped two residents relocate and furnish new homes
Begun two major construction projects
Worked with 7+ local and national nonprofits
Filled more than 50 dumpsters
Hosted two fundraising events
Worked with multiple high schools, organizations, and companies on volunteer collaborations
Hosted a back-to-school supply event, community barbecue, and more in Fountain Park
Worked with dozens of local businesses on profit shares, donations, and sponsorships
And the work is far from over. North City had long been forgotten and discarded before the tornado came. City leaders have failed its constituents over and over, and this isn't new. The difference now, is us. "Power, anywhere, where there's people". We have the power to show up for those who are on the brink of losing everything, and GRL does just that. We show up. When our neighbors call to clear an alley, to remove debris, to help them advocate for their homes, we show up. We listen, we learn, we let our residents take the lead. We advocate, we build and we fight for the rights of those who refuse to be left behind.
