WLCDC’s Health and Wellness Programming addresses the deep interconnection between mental, physical, and community well-being in neighborhoods that have long faced environmental and economic neglect. Through peer support circles, mindfulness events, and essential health services, this initiative creates healing spaces for residents navigating trauma, isolation, and systemic inequity.
In May 2024, WLCDC partnered with Lincoln University to launch a Community AgriBusiness program based directly on our premises in Wells-Goodfellow. This initiative tackles food insecurity and socioeconomic hardship by transforming WLCDC’s green space into a vibrant center for food production, education, and economic opportunity.
Planned features include garden and orchard spaces, a native fishery installation, a farm-to-table test kitchen, and regular educational programming and public events. These efforts aim to turn the surrounding food desert into a local hub for nourishment, sustainability, and community empowerment. Our next steps include purchasing gardening tools and plants to bring our newly built raised beds to life.
With your support, WLCDC can grow this vision into lasting change—rooted in the community and built for the future.
