The Wellston Loop, once a vibrant hub in St. Louis, has endured decades of systemic disinvestment, environmental harm, and loss of local control. Today, neighborhoods like Wells-Goodfellow and Hamilton Heights continue to face high rates of vacancy, poverty, and public health challenges, especially around substance use and untreated trauma.

WLCDC’s Sober Living and Recovery Program stands as one of the most comprehensive community-based responses to these challenges. This program offers food and temporary shelter to individuals awaiting entry into treatment programs, ensuring they have a safe place to stay during a vulnerable and often dangerous transition period.

Our services go beyond shelter. Participants receive peer counseling focused on substance use recovery, violence prevention, and conflict mediation. We also provide wound care, access to phones and the internet for contacting providers and loved ones, transportation to treatment centers and critical appointments, and essential daily supplies.

This is one of the most impactful and far-reaching programs we offer in the Wellston Loop. With your support, WLCDC can continue to provide the tools, stability, and community people need to begin the path toward long-term recovery.
