The Wesley House was founded in 1903. Its purpose then was to provide support services for a neighborhood facing serious challenges. Ironically, the more things change, the more they remain the same. As the economy fluctuates and the population shifts, our purpose today mirrors our purpose over 100 years ago.

In 1925, the Wesley House became a part of the Community Fund, now the United Way of Greater St. Louis. The current facility at 4507 Lee Avenue was built in 1952.

The Wesley House continues to serve as an anchor in the community, providing a safe haven for young people, and people who are young at heart through a variety of programs that were founded under three basic principles: supporting the community, respecting our elders, and preserving our future.

Mrs. Queen Slack - I enjoy coming to Wesley House. I get a chance to be with a nice group of people. We take trips, play bingo, and talk about the past, present, and future while we enjoy a present descent meal.

Mrs. Elizabeth Clark - I have been coming to Wesley House for a long time. I come here for the conversations and the laughs that I get from the people in my group. My children are grown and gone and sometimes I don't have a good conversation or laugh for days. When I come to the Golden Circle Group, I know I will have a good laugh before I go home.

Anthony W. I like to come to Wesley House. They help me with my homework. It is like I get to have a at home recess with my friends.
