What does The Song Society Do? Through local partnerships, The Song Society (TSS) works with children, teenagers and young adults (and families) affected by life-altering medical conditions, cancer & late-effects, and chronic illness. TSS provides unique opportunities to find their voice through a therapeutic songwriting experience, led by a board certified music therapist. At the end of each session/s, the "elite" member will have a completed and recorded song of which they own and may share. In addition to songwriting and recording, our elite members of TSS may have opportunities to perform their songs, centerstage, at community-based and partnership events. All services are completely FREE OF CHARGE.

Recent research suggests that "support systems" are the most common lyrical themes identified in a retrospective content analysis of lyrics written during therapeutic songwriting sessions with children diagnosed with a chronic illness (Kennington et al., 2021). The Song Society reinforces the essence of supporting one another through medical hardships. Where music therapy gives every voice, every song, a place.
The Song Society is a non-profit organization 501(c)3 which provides music therapy, by board-certified music therapists, to support and empower the voices of children (5+), teens and families affected by life-changing medical conditions, chronic illness, cancer and late effects. The Song Society offers therapeutic songwriting and collaborative recording experiences to partnering pediatric centers and community partnerships. All sessions are completely FREE of charge to participants and families
