During its 19 years, at this location, the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic has stood firm that the main goal should be animal welfare. Any donation that was made was dedicated to the sick, orphaned, or injured patients that scurried through the door. It was not until 2024 that the first ever paid staff member was hired in the role of executive director. The clinic was at a do or die stage, as without the proper leadership, it was feared that the clinic would surely go under. Now, with that new leadership, comes a chance to focus on the other aspects of wildlife care.
Wildlife care requires a functional, safe, and efficient building. The current building that the clinic is housed in was never made for wildlife rehabilitation. It has been used to the best of its ability as a previous Sonic restaurant, with our total rehabbed patients exceeding 12,000 over the last 19 years. Put simply, without a proper facility, the clinic cannot take care of the wildlife patients we see through the doors each year. With humans continuing to expand and encounter these species, that number is surely set to grow, and the demand for support will also grow. The time has come to seek additional funding for building repairs so that the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic can continue to be a source of wildlife care and education.
For building repairs, the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic is specifically looking for funding for:
- Addition of a permanent roof over the transition section of the building
- Removal of the wood exterior of the clinic and replacing it with vinyl siding
- Repairs of the electrical system in place
- Replacement of the old flooring inside the main building
The Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic is not equipped to purchase or contract out these repairs all at once, and so the clinic is asking for $250,000 from our amazing sponsors, donors, and wildlife lovers. These donations will assist the clinic over the next couple of years as repairs get made when funding comes in. The money donated to this campaign will be earmarked for building renovation, so that other monetary donations that come in are not diverted from the top-notch animal care that the clinic provides.
Your direct involvement in our campaign will help Missouri wildlife get that second chance, by providing us with the necessary funds to finance renovations and ensuring that we have a building suitable for wildlife rehabilitation for years to come.
We have identified the problem - be part of the solution.
