Our program design blends the elements of instructional design, content, and instruction into a framework to support literacy.
A whole literacy approach that incorporates STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) will be used to support the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluence, vocabulary and comprehension in our K-5 program. Our program moves beyond the five pillars of reading to include other dimensions of reading such as writing, spelling, oral language and listening comprehension.
The program design is centered around visual literacy where children will use 360-degree images and videos, 3D interactive models, and AL content allowing them to use their imagination to process and decode information by exploring their surrounds and becoming immersed in the learning experience.
Our program design starts with alignment of content and the order in which each lesson is taught. Lessons are aligned to the Missouri State Standards for Language Arts. Children will immerse in instructional materials and create experiences that strengthen their skills by progressing them through levels of content difficulty in material.
Curriculum is coordinated to follow a sequenced routine instruction. ClassVR is the proposed instructional tool. The curriculum is coordinated to follow a sequence and routine instruction that provides concise specific content correlated to the Missouri State Standards. The use of this digital literacy platform makes it easy to monitor children and interact with them frequently.
With the addition of the ClassVR, children and teachers will be able to interact with 3D images, videos, and explorable scenes for storytelling. The teacher portal is updated monthly with new content. The ClassVR is 100% educational content and contains no gaming activit
Children will be exposed to various instructional approaches in the ClassVR platform. The program allows teachers to facilitate direct and small groups instruction while incorporating newly learned strategies to build strong foundational skills to help them progress through more difficult content on their way to becoming highly engaged independent readers.
Key concepts are organized by prioritizing instructional strategies that lead to skillful reading.
Goal 1-Youth Outcomes- Support or increase child interest, sense of competence and achievement in the key concepts in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Goal 2-Program Content- Develop and maintain quality programming that includes a safe and supportive environment, positive interactions, and opportunities for authentic engagement in with digital literacy.
Assessments are used to guide student movement through the program. From preassessment to progress monitoring, diagnostic, and outcome measures, the teacher will identify students who are at risk or already having trouble learning how to read. The teacher can use discretion to differentiate instruction.
Children will be assessed at the beginning of the program year each September. A baseline will be established and each child’s benchmarks for individual growth are developed. The importance of this pre assessment is to help identify children who are struggling with reading. The benchmarks will support if the child is reaching the goals of the program. Benchmarks will also allow program staff to review and reflect using collected data and make any necessary changes to the child’s individual plan of growth. Change may include revising content objectives, providing additional instructional, support, and perhaps providing other supplemental support.
Program success will be determined by attendance, academic outcomes, and family engagement.
The better a child attendance in our program, the more opportunities they have for a positive enriching experience. Attendance will be measured daily for high-impact tutoring. The ClassVR experience will record time immersed in the experiences.
Academic outcomes will be measured using curriculum assessments. Children in grades K-5 are expected to reach their benchmark goals set. We are striving for at least a 25% improvement in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension on their posttest test as compared to their pretest.
For our families, there will be a minimum of two events planned for opportunities to be involved in their child’s enrichment experience. Attendance will be taken at each event, and surveys will be completed with information specific to the event. Survey questions will be direct and specific asking for both numerical questions of how many and frequency questions such as how often. These survey questions will relate to time spent reading at home and number of trips to the library within a specific period. Surveys will be developed based upon a needs assessment that will complete families complete at the start of the 2026-27 school year.
