I'm raising $600 to support Forward Through Ferguson because the organization has long been a beacon and a resource for positive change.
I support Forward Through Ferguson because we must continue to tell the story of why Racial Equity still matters today and how to take tangible steps to transform the St. Louis region to be safer, healthier, and more just.
Since our origins in the Ferguson Commission, Forward Through Ferguson has has centered storytelling as a way to move people towards anti-racist systems change and to uplift the voices of people and communities most impacted by racial inequities. This work continues, despite relentless attacks on truth-telling, equity initiatives, and movements for liberation and justice.
I'm especially proud of our work on #Transforming911, which examines the region's 911 system and serves as a call to reimagine public safety. Since it was launched, we've seen dispatchers classified as first responders, the creation of a centralized 911 public safety answering point for the city, and the inclusion of #Transforming911 in political discourse. Forward Through Ferguson is facilitating a First Responder Alternative coalition to advocate for a non-police first responder alternative pilot program in St. Louis County that can then be extended to the entire region.
