In the heart of the historic Vandeventer neighborhood of St. Louis (63113), 86-year-old Lt. Delores McCrea—a U.S. Air Force 2nd Lieutenant and Registered Nurse—has been displaced from the home she cherished and hoped to transform into a sanctuary for fellow women veterans.

What was meant to be a symbol of healing and service has become a scene of devastation. Renovations through the Mission St. Louis Healthy Homes Program were intended to convert her house into transitional housing for veteran women. Instead, negligent subcontractors caused catastrophic damage—not only to Lt. McCrea’s roof, but also to the neighboring home of the late Tuskegee Airman, Charles Brantley. Makeshift repairs with tarps couldn’t hide the destruction or the disregard.

Lt. McCrea has dedicated her life to caring for others—first in uniform, then as a community leader determined to build a safe haven for women who served. Now, she urgently needs our help.

This campaign is a call to action: to restore Lt. McCrea’s home and honor the legacy of her heroic neighbor. While insurance has covered some immediate needs, the remaining legal and repair costs are beyond reach. Our $20,000 goal will fund:

  • Legal action to hold the subcontractors accountable

  • Roof and structural repairs for both properties

  • Continuation of Lt. McCrea’s mission to support women veterans

This is more than a home repair—it's a promise to honor service, defend dignity, and preserve the legacy of veterans who paved the way. Together, we can ensure that both Lt. McCrea and Charles Brantley are remembered not just with words, but with action.

Every donation brings us closer to restoration—and justice. Please give what you can and share this campaign to amplify their story.

Let’s stand with Lt. McCrea. Let’s honor a Tuskegee Airman. Let’s build hope where it’s needed most.
