For over 90 years, Alton Little Theater has been a cornerstone of the Metro East arts community — a place where stories come alive, where laughter and tears fill the air, and where generations of performers and audiences have come together to celebrate the transformative power of live theater.
But like any beloved home, our theater is showing its age.
As we prepare for another exciting season of productions, classes, and special events, we face some critical renovation and upgrade needs that we cannot tackle alone. This is where you come in — and where Give STL Day can make a powerful difference.
What Needs Our Urgent Attention?
🎠Gutter Repair & Flood Prevention
Every time it rains, we hold our breath. Aging gutters and poor drainage have led to leaks and water pooling, causing damage not just to the building’s exterior, but threatening the very heart of our space — the stage and backstage areas where so much magic happens. Without immediate repairs, the risk of future floods will only increase, jeopardizing props, costumes, and equipment.
🎠Exterior Painting: Walls, Railings, Doors, and More
First impressions matter — and our building’s exterior is looking tired and weather-worn. Chipped paint on walls, rusted railings, and faded or peeling doors don’t reflect the vibrancy and professionalism of the productions we create inside. A complete exterior paint refresh will not only protect the structure from weather damage but will also restore the theater’s curb appeal, showing audiences and the community that we care about every detail, inside and out.
🎠Dressing Room Rehabilitation
Our dressing rooms are where actors transform, where young performers build lifelong memories, and where last-minute nerves turn into stage magic. But currently, these spaces are cramped, worn, and in disrepair — with old lighting, cracked mirrors, and tired furnishings. We envision updated dressing rooms with better lighting, secure storage, and a more functional layout, providing artists of all ages with a space that inspires creativity and confidence.
🎠And More...
Our list of needs also includes improvements to lighting and sound equipment, upgraded seating for audience comfort, and ongoing maintenance to protect this historic treasure. Each dollar raised helps ensure that Alton Little Theater remains a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for everyone.
Why It Matters
Alton Little Theater is more than a stage — it’s a community. It’s where kids discover the joy of their first performance, where seniors find friendship and purpose, where local talent shines, and where audiences experience the joy of live entertainment just steps from home.
With your help, we can preserve this legacy and ensure it continues for generations to come.
How You Can Help
This Give STL Day, we invite you to become part of our story. Whether you can give $10, $100, or $1,000, every donation brings us closer to a theater that is safer, stronger, and ready for the next chapter.
Together, let’s make sure the show goes on — beautifully, safely, and memorably.
Thank you for believing in the power of community theater. Thank you for believing in Alton Little Theater!
