Arts programs, encompassing music, media arts, dance, visual arts, and theater, are often among the first to be trimmed during financial downturns. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this trend, with many arts programs being reduced or eliminated due to depleted reserve funds and shifting priorities.
At CommUNITY Arts STL, we believe every child deserves the chance to discover the power of their own voice. That’s why our performance group, Collective Motion, is honored to partner with Normandy School Collaborative to bring the arts directly into the hearts and minds of their students.
Through this vibrant and inclusive program, K–5 students of all abilities are invited on a journey where storytelling becomes a bridge to self-expression, healing, and connection. Each session begins with a story woven with Social-Emotional Learning themes, opening a safe and nurturing space where children can explore who they are, build confidence, and let their creativity shine.
Blending the beauty of visual arts, the energy of performance, and the depth of creative writing, our sessions light a spark in every young artist. With literacy-based, hands-on activities, we empower students not only to read and write—but to dream, to feel, and to grow.
Your support makes this possible. Together, we can uplift young voices, inspire resilience, and create a future where every child feels seen, heard, and celebrated through the arts.
