Saint Louis Crisis Nursery

A nonprofit organization

We know that parenting is hard, and without support, children can bear the brunt of parental anger and stress.

Providing respite care to the children of stressed parents and caregivers prevents abuse. The Crisis Nursery provides care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at five sites, and support for families at nine Outreach Centers throughout St. Louis, St. Charles, Southern Illinois, and surrounding regions.

We work to ensure that every child can live in a safe, loving home in which they can thrive and reach their full potential. Every day, we strive to make our world a better place for our children so that they have the best possible start in life. Through our efforts to prevent instances of child abuse or neglect before they happen, we boost the positive impact we have on children's lives and on our communities exponentially.

Despite the terrible odds of generational poverty, crime, and the tragic consequences of addiction, we see substantial, consistent improvement in the communities we serve. As the Crisis Nursery continues into its fourth decade of keeping kids safe and building strong families, we are coming closer and closer to making our vision more real every day.

Mission

The mission of the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery is to prevent child abuse and neglect.

We do that by working to build strong families and loving, healthy parental relationships; keeping kids and babies safe when at risk for abuse or neglect, and serving as a beacon of hope for parents struggling with overwhelming stress in communities across the St. Louis region.

Over 98% of parents report a reduction in extreme parental stress-a primary factor for child abuse and neglect.
