$5,000 Goal

For over 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has prepared young people for life through some of the most outstanding leadership and growth programs available nationally. Whether it's camping, hiking, community outreach or building remote controlled robots, Scouting offers exciting programs designed to inspire, build character and instill the values that boys and girls need to succeed today.

The Greater St. Louis Area Council, BSA is the largest council serving African American youth in the Boy Scouts of America and the fourth highest in serving female youth in 2023. Scouts come from 63 different counties in the Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and St. Louis Metropolitan areas. 23,882 merit badges and 2,877 STEM merit badges were earned in 2023 and Scouting for Food secured 1,743,841 food items for our communities.

The Boy Scouts of America provides programs for girls and boys ages 6-20. For girls and boys in grades K-5 (or ages 5-10), Cub Scouts offers one thrill after another, from the thrill of shooting an arrow to learning how to transform a block of wood into a race car. For boys and girls ages 11-17, Scouts BSA is designed to promote character, leadership, citizenship and personal fitness in young people while instilling the fundamental values of Scouting. Venturing is available for boys and girls ages 13 (and have completed 8th grade) through 20 and provides positive life experiences through exciting and engaging activities planned and supervised by the youth themselves. Exploring is also available to this age group and provides students with an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields.

496 Scouts from our Council earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2023. This is one of the highest and most recognizable honors a young person can receive, and truly sets them up for a lifetime of success. In fact, Eagle Scouts are statistically more likely to earn a college degree and earn more throughout their lifetime.

Scouting has a program for everyone and works to teach youth how to be prepared for life. We thank you for investing in the lives of our children and giving them a chance to be creative, innovative, and brave in a safe environment.

Mission

The Boy Scouts of America develops today's youth into tomorrow's leaders. We do this by creating opportunities for learning and growth that foster and strengthen self-confidence, values, respect for others, character, citizenship and leadership abilities. Lessons that shape their entire lives.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
