Empowering Women. Strengthening Families.
At Women In Charge, we believe that when a woman is educated, healthy, and empowered, her entire family flourishes. Founded in 1992 by Victoria Sharp after she witnessed the cycle of isolation and poverty facing women in St. Louis, our organization provides a safe, nurturing environment where women can gain the tools necessary to achieve full independence.
We take a "mind, body, and spirit" approach to success, offering a comprehensive suite of services designed to help women reach their full potential as self-supporting members of society.
Our Core Programs
Adult Education & Literacy: Robust HiSET preparation and specialized ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring (launched in 2022) to help women navigate and succeed in their community.
Career & Technical Skills: Computer literacy classes and professional development to bridge the gap to sustainable employment.
Holistic Support: Parent mentoring and wellness activities and workshops like therapeutic horticulture to promote emotional and physical healing.
Removing Barriers: On-site children’s programming ensures that mothers can focus on their education and growth without the hurdle of childcare.
Your support on Give STL Day directly funds the education and healing of St. Louis women, helping them take charge of their futures.
