Every medical breakthrough begins with an idea and a team determined to pursue it. The Friends believe in the curiosity of the Saint Louis University Liver Center investigators and over the past twenty-three years have been raising money, over $5.9 million to date, to fuel research at the Liver Center to advance the understanding of liver disease(s) and to improve care for patients with liver disease.
Since 2005, the Friends have funded 59 Liver Center Seed Grants. These seed grants have been a catalyst for scientific discovery – empowering investigators to secure more than $36.2 million in extramural funding. This translates to an extraordinary 17.7‑to‑1 return on investment, underscoring the profound impact of donor support on advancing the study of liver disease.
Financial support has been allocated for minor and capital equipment to enhance clinical trial research and the basic science laboratories of Liver Center investigators.
Liver Center members have been incredibly productive, publishing more than 2,250 papers, chapters, reviews, and editorials with data collected through their Liver Center Seed Grants.
We’re also proud to encourage/support future scientists. The Friends have funded 12 student stipends, totaling over $39,000, giving undergrad and graduate students the chance to work directly in Liver Center labs. We hope these experiences help inspire the next generation of medical researchers.
Your donation makes a difference – Please help us continue supporting the brilliant minds at the SLU Liver Center as they fight to CURE liver disease!
