Needy Paws Rescue

Needy Paws is a 100% foster-based, volunteer-run rescue. We rescue dogs who are at risk in high-kill shelters, strays, and surrendered dogs in St. Louis and the surrounding rural Missouri areas, regardless of breed or size. We frequently pull dogs from local shelters, especially dogs who are struggling in the shelter environment or in need of significant medical care, so a donation to Needy Paws is also a donation in support of local municipal shelters. Since we were founded in 2014, Needy Paws has saved over 7,700 dogs!

Give STL Day is one of our biggest fundraising days of the year, and each year, we are blown away by the generosity of the St. Louis community. Needy Paws spent over $217,000 in vet bills in 2024, and the need has never been greater. Donations received on Give STL Day allow us to say yes to dogs who require costly veterinary care prior to adoption and provide all routine vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm preventative, and microchipping to all of our adoptable dogs. They also allow us to provide food, crates, and other supplies to keep our dogs comfortable in their foster homes while they wait for their forever families.

Some other exciting initiatives at Needy Paws include:

• Creating a spay/neuter program in rural Missouri areas. Since April 2024, we have completed 56 spay and neuter procedures in rural Missouri areas and our goal is to complete 100 procedures in 2025!
• Partnering with Missouri prisons in Bonne Terre and Potosi for the Puppies for Parole program, where over ## of our rescue dogs have completed 12-week training programs. ## of dogs trained through the program have been adopted!
• Receiving the 2024 Candid Platinum Transparency Seal from Guidestar.org, representing the highest standard of nonprofit transparency.
