Help us purchase new tools and resources for our amazing speech/language therapy program!
At Miriam School and Learning Center, we believe every child has a voice that deserves to be heard. Speech and language therapy serves as an integral part of the scaffolding that allows students who learn differently to bridge the gap between their potential and their performance. Communication is often the primary vehicle for both academic access and social belonging. By targeting areas like language processing, social pragmatics and expressive clarity, this therapy transforms a student’s frustration into success.
Speech and language support at Miriam is not merely a supplemental service - it is the foundation of a truly inclusive education that honors every student’s right to be heard and understood.
With five full-time speech-language pathologists (SLPs) on staff in our K-12 school, therapy is fully integrated into each student’s day. SLPs push into classrooms, collaborate with teachers, and pull students individually and in small groups for more intensive therapy.
SLPs use a number of tools when working with students, including games that help students with social and figurative language, prompts to help with speech articulation, and intervention programs to assist students with various speech and language challenges.
Your Give STL Day gift will provide Miriam SLPs with updated tools and resources to enhance the amazing work they do each day with our students. Help us give our unique learners the gift of language!
Miriam School and Learning Center has a proud legacy of helping students with learning challenges find support and success. Through Miriam School (grades K-12) and Miriam Learning Center, the organization annually reaches more than 1,400 unique learners in the St. Louis region. We identify a child's needs, work within their strengths, and provide solutions. Miriam educates students who have learning differences such as learning disabilities, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, language disorders, anxiety and autism spectrum disorder.
