Being hospitalized during pregnancy or having a baby in the NICU is challenging, and often comes with surprising layers of grief. When our founder Tara Docekal experienced an extended hospital stay before having her baby, she saw value in emotional support from other patients who truly understood her experience. We founded Mightiest Mamas to support families based on the insights only another patient would have.
Mightiest Mamas provides encouragement to patients, their families, and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in the units caring for pregnancy complications and loss, birth, and NICU stays.
Our programming includes providing NICU Halloween costumes, a visit from Santa for the holidays, and a NICU activity and library cart to support families throughout the year. As our resources allow, we also donate special care packages for families who experience a pregnancy or infant loss. This is our seventh year of supporting St. Mary’s patients, and we hope to grow our programming with your support.
A patient recently thanked us for our December event:
“Mightiest Mamas was a breath of fresh air when the air felt as heavy as it possibly could. The thoughtful care package was so helpful as we were traveling back and forth to the NICU. It was also amazing to be able to have pictures of our girl with Santa for her first Christmas, creating some “normalcy” during the holiday season.”
We are so grateful that your support helps us create moments like this.
Thanks being a part of our Mightiest Mamas community!
