Lung Cancer Connection is a grassroots, non-profit advocacy group established in St. Louis, Missouri in 2009 by two women diagnosed with lung cancer. As they shared their stories, each found they had been completely blindsided by their diagnosis of lung cancer. and were equally disturbed by their experiences regarding the general prognoses of lung cancer patients, limited treatment options available to them, the stigma attached to diagnosis, the lack of funding for research and the ensuing implications for their bodies, their spirits, and their lives. They became determined to increase the knowledge of those diagnosed with lung cancer and to improve their quality of life and medical care.
We continue to turn their vision into a reality in the following areas:
1. Provide support, information, and hope to patients diagnosed with lung cancer and their caregivers.
2. Educate and build awareness of lung cancer to reduce the stigma patients face.
3. Increase awareness of lung cancer risks and improve survivorship by connecting the public to prevention and
early screening resources.
4. Increase access to resources for patients diagnosed with lung cancer in underserved racial, ethnic, and
geographic communities.
5. Support and advocate for legislation for lung cancer prevention, screening, and treatment initiatives.
6. Raise funds for lung cancer research and support legislation for increased lung cancer research funding.
