A Place to Belong

Independence Center provides innovative programs that help 1,500 adults with serious mental illness live, work, and thrive in our community each year. Since 1981, we have built a welcoming, supportive environment where every member is valued, connected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

For many individuals living with serious mental illness, isolation is one of the greatest challenges. Too often, people face each day without connection, without opportunity, and without a place where they feel truly seen and supported.

Our Clubhouse is at the heart of this community, providing a space where members know they always have somewhere to turn for support, purpose, and meaningful connection.

Through the Clubhouse, we offer education and employment support, housing, health and wellness services, and social opportunities that affirm dignity, purpose, and belonging. Every program is designed to help members feel needed, wanted, and expected; because a strong, supportive community can transform lives.

"Clubhouse restores hope, dignity, and purpose."
— Clubhouse Member

Each day, members walk through our doors and find more than services, they find connection, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose. They find a community that believes in them.

But the need continues to grow, and more individuals are seeking the kind of support and belonging that Independence Center provides.

Your gift on Give STL Day helps ensure this community remains strong and accessible. From helping members secure stable housing and meaningful employment to supporting wellness and social connection, your generosity creates opportunities for individuals to rebuild their lives.

Your gift creates belonging.

Together, we can ensure that everyone in our community has a place to belong.
