There is a window of time to conserve some of our area’s most important wildlife habitat and local farms.

You can ensure that special places are here for generations to come by donating today - Your gift will help balance development, ensuring that nature is close to home and that our region retains clean water and quiet places over time.

Who is HeartLands Conservancy?

HeartLands Conservancy is a community-supported non-profit land trust based in Belleville, Illinois, working to protect wildlife habitat, family farms, and special places across the southernmost 36 counties of Illinois.

Through land conservation and stewardship, we're working with people like you to create and care for parks, trails, and nature preserves — connecting people to the natural beauty of southern Illinois.

HeartLands Conservancy's Programs

Land
HeartLands Conservancy works with local people and communities to conserve their cherished land, woods, prairies, and family farms. We also "create" places for community enjoyment, such as parks, gardens, and trails.

Water
HeartLands Conservancy works in partnership with public agencies and residents to protect and manage water in southern Illinois through green infrastructure, flood and climate adaptation strategies, and healthy watersheds.

Communities
HeartLands Conservancy works with and assists communities within the Metro East region and southern Illinois on projects and initiatives focused on parks, trails, planning, mapping, climate adaptation, green infrastructure.

It is more important than ever to protect places for people to connect with nature, conserve farms and wildlife habitat, and improve the water quality of our rivers and streams.

Every dollar you contribute will make a difference year after year as friends, neighbors, and future generations will experience the lands you love today. That means more nature, farms, sparkling streams and rivers, and wide open spaces. It means wildlife will thrive rather than struggle to survive.

You can save the southern Illinois lands and waters that matter most, while there’s still time.
