Equus Sanctuary -What We Do

Equus Rescue and Therapy has become a sanctuary for horses bound for slaughter, no longer needed or necessary to humans.  Through their lives our farm has become a sanctuary for many humans who are looking for their own passion and mission in this World, where do they belong?

Through working with rescued horses our sanctuary offers an opportunity for recovery to those seeking to find themselves, their passion and where they fit in.

Each of our horses have personally lived this experience in their own lives and immediately recognize the same challenges in humans.

2024 is a year of new beginnings, new opportunities for our horses and humans alike.   We have offered our home to other programs seeking a home to provide equine therapy services to their client base.  This opens up an unlimited field of service to humans struggling.   Equine therapy can accomplish in 15 minutes what talk therapy does in 15 years..amazing as our horses are!

EquIne Angels for At-Risk Youth

Equine Angels serves at-risk youth who are struggling with overcoming abuse, depression, anxiety, and other emotional and physical disabilities.

Equus Rescue Readers

Offers children a safe place to read out loud to a horse to improve their reading skills, confidence and public speaking skills.  Many children are written off as young as 9 years old as non-readers because of their lack of experience, comprehension and abilities to read.  The horse gives them a safe place and permission to be the person they are.

We believe every noble life deserves a second chance.

Our organization continues to grow and thrive due to the generosity of the Volunteers and our community. We offer group events, host special events, and invite anyone who wants to help us help our horses and our community.

Mission

We are a sanctuary for horses that have been bailed from kill pens, starvation cases surrendered to us through private individuals or State seizures and horses that find themselves in horrific life ending situations. We offer a second chance and a permanent home to these beautiful creatures who so need to finally find a place to call home. Most people do not know that horse adoptions end with just 7% remaining in their homes. The cycle starts all over when the cost is too high, no longer needed etc. Through their gallant existence and life with us they now live in peace and continue to serve to help humans through their big hearts, kindness and compassion.
