At Equine-Assisted Therapy, Inc., we’re a proud non-profit 501(c)3 dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding and non-riding activities for individuals facing challenges in the St. Louis area. Our founder Ginni Hartke, who welcomed our first rider in April 2004, we've remained focused on our mission to offer life-changing equine experiences. Today, we serve over 150 clients each week with the help of 225+ dedicated volunteers, 16 certified instructors, and 21 therapy horses.
We are committed to excellence, adhering to the highest standards set by leading certifying organizations like PATH International, SpiritHorse International, EAGALA, and Equine Connection. Our approach is guided by a core team of professionals that includes an Occupational Therapist, a Dr of Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Special Education Teacher, ensuring that each participant receives comprehensive care tailored to their needs.
Our certified instructors and trained volunteers work hand-in-hand with participants and horses, helping to foster confidence, independence, and well-being through therapeutic horsemanship. We believe that every rider, regardless of their background or abilities, deserves the chance to experience the joy and freedom that horses provide.
While we operate as a self-pay center, we strive to keep our services accessible. Participant fees cover less than a third of our operating costs, and we never charge Veterans, First Responders, or children in foster care. Thanks to our scholarship fund and the generosity of private and corporate donors, foundations, grants, and fundraisers, we ensure that no one is turned away due to financial constraints.
