DaySpring Arts and Education

A nonprofit organization

DaySpring Arts and Education was created in September of 1993 by a group of artists who were seeking a different kind of arts education for their children. Remembering their own struggles as young artists, they dreamed of a place where their children could receive quality technical training in a secure and nurturing environment that would prepare them to deal gracefully with the realities of life in the competitive world of the arts. DaySpring is committed to bringing the highest level of training to our students: whether academic or artistic, our teachers foster collaboration and creativity, critical thinking and communication, that prepares the student for the stage of life.

In 1998, DaySpring incorporated as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization with a committed board of directors. In January of 1999, the school moved into its last rented facility, which provides room for three dance/performing arts studios, and several classrooms/music studios, as well as offices. In the spring of 2015, DaySpring purchased a building, home to nearly 400 students, with a structured multi-disciplinary arts program that emphasizes the importance of technical excellence and character training. Our program has expanded over the years to include several departments which include Performing Arts (musical theatre, drama, and technical theatre), Dance (ballet, tap, jazz & modern), Music (private lessons and classes), and fine art.

DaySpring also houses the Academy, a preschool through grade 12 private Christian Academy with a university-format school program that serves parents looking for an alternative education for their children. Teachers and staff collaborate with families, offering core curriculum and classroom interaction in a creative environment part-time while students do their work at home other days of the week. S-T-E-A-M is a big part of this program, and students are encouraged to use art to solidify their learning, use creative thinking, collaborate with their peers, and communicate effectively. The Academy is provisionally accredited by ISACS.

Many of our families receive scholarship and work study opportunities and we would love to be able to help more of them.

We also have a growing outreach department bringing educational workshops, classes and performances to many community places including St. Louis City and County Libraries, several local school districts, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, the cities of Creve Coeur and Maryland Heights, and many other community programs.

Mission

Through excellent training in the arts and innovative academic education, reflecting God's love and welcoming all, DaySpring equips our students to use their creativity and skills effectively in their lives, enriching the community.
