Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet

A nonprofit organization

Caring. Bold. Joyful. Relevant. Fearless. Fun.

These are just a few words people have used to describe the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet — and we think they're pretty accurate.

We are a community of Roman Catholic women religious who have spent more than 350 years responding to the needs of the world with love, courage and a deep commitment to one another and to the dear neighbor. We live, pray and act so that every person feels heard, nurtured and valued.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple but radical conviction: everyone gets a seat at the table.

The Sisters of St. Joseph have always believed that you cannot be in right relationship with someone if they are on the outside. "Serving the dear neighbor without distinction" is not just a phrase for us — it is a daily practice, a gospel call, and the foundation of our community life, our spirituality and our work for social justice and the common good.

We see who we are together in the letters CSJ: Community. Spirituality. Justice.

Today, our sisters and associates serve in more than 11 states and in Peru — accompanying people through illness and loss, advocating for those on the margins, praying without ceasing and showing up, day after day, for the dear neighbor.

Your gift makes this ministry possible. It sustains a way of life rooted in compassion, connection and unifying love — and it ensures that the table keeps growing.

Mission

We are a Roman Catholic community of women religious called to the same profound love of God and love of neighbor without distinction that characterized our founding in 1650. Our mission is to form loving relationships with ourselves, with God, within community, Church, society and all of creation. We work toward this mission through prayer, direct service, consciousness-raising and systemic change.
