Some May Like it Hot, but Let's Keep it Cool!
$500 Raised
As streaming options multiply, watching movies at home is convenient, but the true impact of film is felt when shared. Cinema St. Louis (CSL), known for events like the St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF), faces this reality post-pandemic. Buying the Hi-Pointe Theatre in 2022 was a significant move, ensuring a home for film and community engagement. We aim for the theater to be a hub for storytelling, welcoming locals, film enthusiasts, and students alike. With affordable prices, inclusive programming, and a unique experience, we're committed to keeping the magic of cinema alive.
We've been busy hosting film festivals, competitions, master classes, free programs for local students, and showcasing a variety of films at the iconic 102-year-old Theatre. Thanks to generous donations during StL Day last year, we were able to "Raise the Roof" and achieve our highest fundraising goal yet for a new roof. However, further assessments revealed that replacing the roof also requires upgrading the heating and cooling systems, both on the rooftop and within the Theatre. This year, we're seeking your support to "Keep it Cool" inside the Hi-Pointe. We're collaborating with local companies to ensure the new systems are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, unlike our current setup.
That's where you can play a part!
Whether you take center stage or prefer a supporting role, your participation is invaluable to us. Every contribution, regardless of size, will significantly impact the success of this project. Our 2024 Give StL Day target is ambitious, reflecting the magnitude of this endeavor: $40,000. The ultimate reward? Ensuring that the timeless film programming at the oldest single-screen arthouse cinema in St. Louis continues for years, undisturbed by noisy HVAC systems or uncomfortable temperatures.
Join us in securing a bright future for the Hi-Pointe Theatre and our community's cinematic legacy.
Thank you.
