We walk with women before and after prison—because trust changes everything
Broken and Beautiful builds relationships before release and stays committed long after the prison doors open. We serve women inside prison through services, classes, mentoring, and one‑on‑one relationships, then walk with them through reentry when they are most vulnerable.
Every woman we serve is paired with a dedicated community liaison while still incarcerated, helping her prepare for housing, employment, counseling, and spiritual support before release. Supported by trusted local volunteers and our committed staff, this continuity of care reduces anxiety, increases stability, and dramatically improves outcomes during reentry.
The impact is clear:
Women who stay connected with Broken and Beautiful for three months after release have a 90%+ chance of NOT returning to prison.
Expanding safe, supportive housing in St. Louis and St. Charles
In response to growing need, we are expanding our reach across the St. Louis, St. Charles and Lincoln County areas by partnering with established transition houses and launching dedicated Broken and Beautiful homes.
These homes provide safe, sober, faith‑centered environments where women live alongside others they already know from prison—surrounded by trust and accountability. Each home offers wraparound support including counseling, peer support, Christian education, discipleship, and career assistance.
With 20+ local volunteers and a growing network of partner churches, women are receiving support from people they already trust—strengthening both stability and long‑term community connection.
💜 New for 2026:
We are committing to our first Broken and Beautiful home in St. Charles, adding an estimated $25,000 in annual expenses, but creating life‑changing stability for women who would otherwise face homelessness or unsafe living situations.
The need has never been greater
• Over 300 women are currently requesting Broken and Beautiful support upon release
• Our assistance with housing and unplanned emergencies has tripled this year
• Demand continues to increase faster than available resources
Every number represents a woman longing for hope, safety, and a real second chance.
Angela’s Story: From Prison to Purpose

Angela grew up surrounded by addiction, abuse, and deep trauma beginning at a very young age. After escaping an abusive marriage, she found herself isolated, battling addiction, and eventually incarcerated.
While in prison, Angela encountered Broken and Beautiful. Through consistent services, relationships, and mentorship, she encountered Jesus—and for the first time, believed that freedom was possible.
After her release, Broken and Beautiful walked alongside Angela with counseling, discipleship, and practical reentry support. Through our network of local partner churches, she was able to furnish her home, establish independence, and begin rebuilding her family.
Today, Angela has full custody of her five children and now serves as a Broken and Beautiful Community Liaison, helping other women transition from prison into faith, freedom, and restoration.
Angela shares:
“Broken and Beautiful was—and still is—a vital part of my recovery. Sometimes I think my purpose for being in prison was to cross paths with this program. I knew instantly they were for me. A network of people who truly love and care, and healthy people who help you grow into your full potential.”
Angela’s story is why we do this work—and why it matters now.
