PenUltimate Press publishes books written, primarily, by first-time authors from Missouri whose work might, otherwise, go unnoticed. Its publications have been the recipients of literary awards, excellent reviews, and critical acclaim. The books target both young adult and adult readers and seek to attract an untapped readership. Exemplifying the impact of the press are books published as part of its Missouri Lives Series. These family stories, written by native and resident Missourians, reflect the cultural diversity of the state's residents while elevating universal familial experiences. The works foster social and cultural exchange and, because they are distributed nationally and internationally, introduce a global readership to the state's cultural richness.
PenUltimate Press is a nonprofit literary press, formed in the public interest for the following purposes: to contribute to the public discourse of social and cultural issues; to strengthen a sense of community by publishing books of the highest literary merit; to provide a platform for underrepresented voices; and to offer publications that will serve the ends of public education and awareness.
