Teach For America (TFA) finds, develops and supports a diverse network of leaders, working together to end educational inequity. For more than 30 years, TFA has cultivated thriving leaders committed to transforming education and expanding opportunity with children, starting in the classroom.
We set an ambitious goal: By 2030, twice as many children in St. Louis will reach key educational milestones indicating they are on a path to economic mobility and co-creating a future filled with possibility, with a special focus on third-grade reading and eighth-grade math.
Brought to St. Louis in 2002, TFA has recruited nearly a thousand new teachers to St. Louis and currently has a network of 600+ educators and education advocates living and leading in the region. Today, 1 in 5 public schools (district and charter) in St. Louis City are led by TFA alumni, and nearly 85% of TFA alumni work in roles that directly impact education or low-income communities in St. Louis. Students in those schools are more than three times as likely to exceed their English Language Arts and math targets than students in schools not led by TFA alumni. TFA alumni teachers are also consistently recognized for their excellence in teaching.
