Take Care Sis (TCS) is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to improving the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and financial well-being of women ages 25+ through accessible, culturally relevant self-care and wellness programming. Following the overwhelming success of our inaugural Self-Care Expo, which drew over 2,000 RSVPs and activated dozens of minority/women-owned businesses; TCS is expanding its impact with the 2026 Self-Care Expo (May 2nd), an immersive, city-wide experience that centers wellness, community building, and economic empowerment. This project brings together local businesses, free wellness services, educational workshops and communal support spaces to address health disparities, reduce stress, strengthen financial literacy and promote overall well-being for women who are often underserved in traditional wellness systems. With increased community demand and a commitment to long-term change, TCS is scaling its programming, deepening partnerships, and advancing sustainable wellness access for minority women in St. Louis and beyond.
Take Care Sis currently addresses the urgent need for safe, supportive and culturally relevant wellness spaces for women by providing community-centered programming that promotes rest, healing, financial empowerment and overall well-being. Through its annual Self-Care Expo, curated workshops and year-round initiatives, TCS combats the chronic neglect of self-care among women who often prioritize others over themselves due to cultural expectations and systemic pressures. With the proposed project, the organization plans to expand its reach, deepen its impact and offer more comprehensive wellness experiences—such as free services, education, vendor access and mental health resources ensuring that women have ongoing, meaningful opportunities to reset, recharge and build sustainable self-care practices. The project enhances and scales the work TCS already does by increasing accessibility, growing community partnerships and delivering holistic wellness support to a rapidly expanding audience.
Our annual wellness expo aims to improve the health and well-being of women by addressing critical gaps in access to wellness resources and education. The event emphasizes the importance of mental, emotional, financial and physical health through activities such as yoga, sound baths, workout sessions, educational seminars and hands-on workshops. This annual experience empowers attendees with self-care practices that can reduce stress, improve mental clarity and enhance overall well-being.
By fostering a supportive community, the self care expo also combats isolation and encourages meaningful connections, encouraging attendees to prioritize their health in ways that feel accessible and sustainable. Additionally, the event highlights local minority owned businesses and community resources, connecting participants to ongoing opportunities for wellness. We believe this holistic approach strengthens both individuals and the communities they belong to!
