The Sunlit Way: Lighting the Path to Empowered Living for Individuals Diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities.

Sunnyhill is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that delivers life-changing services that transform communities. It was founded in 1978 by eighteen families who wanted to provide their children diagnosed with disabilities with a camp experience. The founding families worked tirelessly to secure funding, housing, and activities for future generations under the guidance of Monsignor Behrmann. Today, our dedicated team of over 400 staff members is one of the largest local free-standing service providers in Jefferson County, St. Charles County, and Greater St. Louis Metro. We strive to fulfill our mission by providing person-centered services.

Sunnyhill is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that helps children and adults with developmental disabilities through educational opportunities, recreational, residential, and behavioral analysis. Sunnyhill empowers the individuals that we serve to become productive citizens, and to achieve their individual dreams.

Our original location in Dittmer, Missouri, is now the fully inclusive accredited Adventures Camp, where we offer enriching summer programs that welcome campers during 6 to 8 weeks of summer programming. During the off-season, the campgrounds are a versatile venue for school field trips, retreats, family reunions, and community events. Our Adventures team also organizes weekend excursions for the individuals we serve, adding to our transformative offerings. 

Our logo features a radiant sunrise over one of the camp’s original structures in Dittmer, symbolizing our enduring commitment to empowering individuals diagnosed with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
