The St. Louis American Foundation is dedicated to empowering underserved communities through education and recognition initiatives. Our commitment is reflected in the following key programs:

Scholarships for Underserved Communities

We provide scholarships to students from underserved communities, enabling them to pursue higher education and achieve their academic and career aspirations.

STEM Education Initiative

Our STEM Education Initiative falls under our Newspaper in Education program, which provides engaging and educational content to students and educators. Through this initiative, we work to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among young learners, equipping them with the knowledge and skills for future success. Additionally, our Healthy Kids section promotes well-being by encouraging students to explore the connections between health, science, and technology, fostering a holistic approach to STEM education.

Summer Science Camp

The St. Louis American Foundation hosts a two-week, FREE science camp for students, providing hands-on learning and immersive experiences in various STEM fields. This initiative ensures that young minds from all backgrounds have access to high-quality STEM education and career exploration opportunities.

Salute to Excellence Program

Our Salute to Excellence Program honors individuals and organizations making significant contributions to the community. By celebrating these achievements, we aim to inspire others to engage in community service and leadership.

Preserving the Independent Black Voice in Media

The St. Louis American Foundation is committed to ensuring the continued preservation of the independent Black voice in media. Through our support of the St. Louis American Newspaper, we help sustain one of the nation’s longest-running, award-winning Black newspapers, ensuring that stories relevant to our community are told with authenticity and integrity. As mainstream media often overlooks the Black perspective, our foundation actively supports journalism that amplifies Black voices, highlights community achievements, and advocates for issues that matter most.

Through these initiatives, the St. Louis American Foundation strives to create opportunities, foster educational growth, recognize excellence, and preserve the power of Black storytelling, building a brighter future for all.

Mission

The St. Louis American Foundation provides high potential African-American students in the St. Louis region with needed financial support to optimize the achievement of their higher education goals.
