St. Joseph Hearing + Speech

Our programs reach children and their bewildered parents as they receive a positive diagnosis of hearing loss. With few genetic transmissions, 90% of children are born into hearing families. In other words, the first person with hearing loss a parent may meet is their own child in the delivery room. We work with the entire family to begin their new journey, teaching skills and techniques they will need to help their child learn to listen and speak. Our results are outstanding: more than 95% of parents/caregivers rated their child's responsiveness to the amplification (aka a hearing aid or an implant) and the subsequent sessions as positive. 98% of parents gave high ratings to the explanation they received by the audiologist and the responsiveness of the therapist. This is a huge statement; parents will be the advocates for their child until the child can advocate for themselves. Their comprehension of the services, diagnosis, and the subsequent effects will be imperative for the rest of their lives.
