OVERVIEW

Digital Divide (The Problem)

The Digital Divide is the gap between those who have  affordable access, skills, and  support to effectively engage  online and those who do not.

Digital Inclusion (The Work)

Digital Inclusion refers to activities necessary to ensure  that all individuals and communities, including the most  disadvantaged, have access to  and use of Information and Communication Technologies  (ICTs). Digital inclusion must evolve as technology advances.

Digital Equity (The Goal)

Digital Equity is a condition in which all individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy, and economy.  Digital equity is necessary for  civic and cultural participation,  employment, lifelong learning,  and access to essential services.

Nationally, PCs for People has been a driving force behind digital inclusion efforts, operating as a 501(c)3 nonprofit social enterprise since 1998. Our sustainable, scalable approach aims to close the digital divide by providing affordable access, skills, and support to those in need. With ten physical locations in eight states, broadband internet services in several more, and an online order platform with PC and mobile hotspot shipping across the United States and Puerto Rico, we have distributed over 260,000 computers to low-income families, provided 150,000 affordable internet connections, and recycled over 13 million pounds of electronic equipment as of December 2023.
