NOVUS Health

A nonprofit organization

For over 30 years, our practice has provided much needed clinical care for people living with HIV/AIDS. In 2022, we rebranded by changing our name to NOVUS Health, becoming a 501c3 nonprofit, and expanding our service delivery. As a long-time provider of primary care for LGBTQIA+ needs within the entire St. Louis region, we are one of a very few organizations providing holistic and trauma-informed care for a wide array of integrated services for patients.

To ensure our patients stay engaged, we have extended and integrated our services into a holistic care model that includes the following services:

  • General Wellness
  • Behavioral Health
  • Psychiatric Services
  • Telehealth
  • Women's Wellness
  • Case Management
  • Linkage to Care
  • Massage Therapy Partnerships
  • Prevention Program
  • Gender Affirming Care
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Clinical Care
  • Pharmacy

This year we moved to a new facility located on South Grand that will allow for these added services, including dental, dietitian, and chiropractic care.

NOVUS Health uses city/state/and federal data to gauge current community needs, identify gaps in service, and to stay abreast of trends. The results show that when basic needs such as access to housing, healthy food, and transportation are not being met, dedication to healthcare becomes a challenge. One also may not want to address their health concerns based on the stigma of their illness. Mental health disorders and hospitalizations were 2-4 times higher for African Americans and those in poverty. Sexually Transmitted Infections are also on the rise. NOVUS Health addresses these concerns by remaining committed to making healthcare accessible to all. We meet patients where they are so they can navigate their health plan with support.

At NOVUS, we want the flexibility to serve community members who do not have health insurance, and to help our patients access, keep, and use health coverage to maintain their best health. We also understand that patients may be insured, but they are barely over the income limit to qualify for free services, or are on a fixed income, leading to financial frustration and lack of ability to pay for co-pays and other holistic health services.

We acknowledge health disparities and work to serve individuals regardless of race, gender, gender identity, ethnicity. We also work to acknowledge and face our own internal biases and make a true commitment to change the health care landscape as we know it.  We also strive to cultivate a culture of equity and inclusion within our organization by ensuring equity in policies, clinical practices, and opportunities for advancement. We now have a director of Change Management & Diversity who will ensure that leadership and staff remain a qualified and diverse work force.

We are breaking the cycle and stigma of patients not being able to have a choice in their healthcare journey. We provide inclusive, gender-affirming, and trauma informed care in a trusting, compassionate environment. When a patient walks through our clinic doors, they know that someone on our team will be able to meet their needs no matter their ability to pay. We offer to help patients find affordable health coverage that best meets their needs. We go above and beyond to make sure healthier living starts with us.
