At Metro East Every Survivor Counts, we believe every survivor of sexual violence deserves to be heard, supported, and empowered—without judgment, without barriers, and without cost. Our mission is to walk alongside survivors during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, providing compassionate care, advocacy, and resources that center dignity, safety, and healing.
We offer comprehensive, survivor-centered services to individuals of all ages who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, or violence in Madison and St. Clair Counties in Illinois. From the first discussion to our 24/7 crisis hotline to long-term healing support, our team is here every step of the way. Survivors can reach us at any time to speak with a trained advocate, ask questions, or begin services in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them.
We provide trauma-informed counseling for survivors and individuals impacted by sexual violence. Our counseling services support healing at every stage—whether someone is navigating recent trauma or processing past experiences. We also support loved ones and secondary survivors who are impacted and seeking guidance. Every session is grounded in compassion, confidentiality, and empowerment, ensuring survivors are met with understanding and care.
In addition to counseling, we provide medical and legal advocacy. Our advocates accompany survivors to hospitals for forensic exams, ensuring they are never alone during an overwhelming and vulnerable experience. We also support survivors through the legal process such as reporting or obtaining an order of protection while helping survivors understand their rights and options—whether or not they choose to report. Every decision is theirs, and we are here to support them without pressure or judgment.
We are also deeply committed to prevention and community education as well. We partner with schools, first responders, healthcare providers, and community organizations to increase awareness, strengthen trauma-informed responses, and help prevent sexual violence. Through these efforts, we aim to build a safer, more supportive community for all.
All of our services are provided free of charge because we believe healing should never be limited by financial barriers. We meet survivors where they are—emotionally and personally—honoring their experiences and supporting their unique paths forward.
As a community-based organization, we rely on the generosity of donors, community partners, and advocates who believe in our mission. Your support allows us to provide life-changing services, expand access to care, and ensure no survivor has to navigate their journey alone.
Every survivor counts. Every experience matters. Together, we can create a community where survivors are supported, believed, and empowered to heal.
