The power of partnership.

Missouri Appleseed and the St. Louis County Jail are partnering to launch a pilot literacy program for jail residents.

Literacy challenges limit an individual’s access to jobs and hinder successful reentry to communities. By fostering literacy, Missouri Appleseed and St. Louis County hope to create pathways for employment and reduce recidivism.

Let's invest in building stronger communities.

Research shows that individuals with developed reading skills are twice as likely to secure steady work after release than those with elementary-level skills. From GED prep and job readiness to family-focused literacy, the pilot literacy program will provide support to help individuals succeed after incarceration.

Grow literacy. Give today.

This Give STL Day, our goal is to raise $10,000 to bring literacy education to St. Louis County Jail residents. With your support we can help individuals succeed after release—and build stronger families and communities.
