Chasing Dreams Is Our Purpose

KOZ for KIDZ was founded after the sudden loss of our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and Hall of Fame soccer player and coach, Steven J. Kozeny, Jr.

Our family knows firsthand the deep impact of losing a parent. Years earlier, our founder, Steven J. Kozeny, Sr., lost his own father at just five years old. As a child, he quietly assumed college was out of reach. He didn’t want to burden his mother with financial stress, and he couldn’t see a path to making it happen on his own.

After losing his son, he was determined that history would not repeat itself for his grandchildren — or for any child walking a similar road.

That determination became KOZ for KIDZ.

We believe no child should have to give up on their dreams because of financial hardship caused by the loss of a parent. Grief is heavy enough. Lost opportunity shouldn’t be part of the story.

Through sponsorships, we help cover educational expenses such as tuition, books, and fees; athletic costs including equipment, uniforms, and team fees; and arts-related opportunities like instrument rentals and recital expenses.

More than financial support, we provide encouragement, hope, and the reminder that their dreams still matter.

At KOZ for KIDZ, we exist for one reason: to help kids keep chasing theirs.

Mission

KOZ for KIDZ’s mission is to provide athletic and educational sponsorships for children (ages 5–22) who’ve been impacted by the loss of a parent. This includes helping cover costs for educational needs (like tuition, books, fees), athletic-related expenses (equipment, uniforms, fees), and arts-based activities (such as musical instrument rentals and recital costumes). The overall goal is to ensure that children don’t have to give up on their dreams due to financial hardship after losing a parent, and to help them continue chasing their dreams despite that loss.
