Hawthorne Players

A nonprofit organization

Hawthorne Players has brought ground-breaking theatre to North St. Louis County audiences, including acclaimed and award-winning productions of "The Producers," "Fences," "The Wiz," "Rabbit Hole," and "Hairspray." Our group pioneered "Voices of Valhalla," historical-themed theatre presented at Valhalla Cemetery, and now partners with Bellefontaine Cemetery to produce "Voices at Bellefontaine."

In addition, since 1992, Hawthorne Players has awarded college scholarships to North County high school students active in the performing arts. As of 2023, we have awarded over $65,000 in such scholarships.

Mission

Hawthorne Players was founded in 1945 in Ferguson, Missouri, and formally incorporated in 1948. Our mission is and always has been to produce high quality amateur theatricals in the North St. Louis County community. We strive to develop amateur talent; to give opportunities to all to participate in and enjoy the benefits of live theatre; to provide entertainment and education to the community; and to use proceeds to benefit worthy charitable and civic endeavors.
