Equally Represented Arts (ERA) is a St. Louis-area professional theatre company that engages local artists in creating original, experimental, avant-garde productions for the public.
ERA purposely breaks away from the mainstream and challenges the meaning of what theatre can be in our community. We believe that unless our art form innovates, it will become irrelevant. While other St. Louis theatre companies may produce artistically safe work, we prioritize creative and intellectual risk-taking. Through this approach, we investigate problems and questions in theatre and discover novel iterations of artistic excellence.
After premiering in St. Louis with "Make Hamlet" in 2014, ERA continues to create and present new plays throughout the St. Louis region. Notable productions include: "R+J: A Telephone Play," "The Residents of Craigslist," "Faust," "Antigone: requiem per Patriarchus," "Trash Macbeth" (Outstanding Production nominee, St. Louis Theater Circle), "The Brechtfast Club", and "Romanov Family Yard Sale" (Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy, St. Louis Theatre Circle Award Winner).
ERA's next production "The Last Show on Earth" will be performed at the Kranzberg Arts Center, September 16-26, 2026.
"The Last Show on Earth" is a multi-media vignette-style play that explores the absurdity and quiet beauty of contemporary life in an increasingly mediated world. Inspired by the films of Roy Andersson, the play unfolds as a series of loosely connected scenes that share a common creative theme rather than a single linear plot. Together, these moments form an emotional arc that moves from the everyday toward the existential. Audience engagement is central to the project. The show frequently breaks the “fourth wall,” blurring the line between performer and spectator and implicating the audience in the themes being examined. "The Last Show on Earth" is written by Joe Taylor and directed by Lucy Cashion.
