The Summer Build Academy, an 8-week program, serves as the core of DB4E's youth-driven community transformation, providing participants ages 16-24 with essential tools, resources, support, and exposure to thrive and lead in various aspects of life. Throughout the summer, they contribute to community development projects and journal about their experiences. Their writings are published in a book, with proceeds going directly to the youth. Following the academy, they’re partnered with mentors, have the opportunity to earn money through property rehabilitation and teaching chess, participate in monthly events, and have access free therapy.

Our Summer Academy offers a transformative experience for our youth, providing them with invaluable opportunities for growth, learning, and community engagement. Throughout the program, our students delve into a diverse array of subjects. Guided by passionate mentors and supported by dedicated community partners, our youth demonstrate remarkable growth, resilience, and leadership.

In addition to these enriching experiences, our students have the unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders from prominent organizations such as Cannon Design, ABD, and the Gateway South Innovation District. They meet with professionals from these esteemed companies and organizations, engaging in conversations that broaden their perspectives and inspire them to pursue their dreams. From exclusive tours of architectural landmarks to discussions on urban development and design, these interactions provide our youth with valuable insights into various industries and career pathways.

From hands-on experiences in real estate to community service projects and creative workshops, our students gain practical skills and valuable insights that prepare them for future success. They actively participate in projects within the Hyde Park neighborhood, collaborating with our construction partners to make tangible improvements in their community.

105 youth have participated in the Dream Builders 4 Equity Summer Academy. 96% of our participants achieving notable outcomes ranging from gainful employment to high school graduation, college enrollment, and successful college graduates, including those currently on track to graduate from high school. In 2023, 44 students participated in the DB4E Summer Academy & Apprentice Program, marking another year of increasing participation in our program.

By supporting our Summer Academy, you're investing in the future of our community. Your donation enables us to continue providing these life-changing opportunities to our youth, empowering them to reach their full potential and become positive agents of change. Together, we can create a brighter future for our youth and our neighborhoods. Please consider donating today to support our mission of empowerment.
