Community Power Project (CPP) aims to empower disabled adults, in partnership with Coalition for Truth in Independence. It is run by disabled adults, for disabled adults (though we welcome everyone!). We want to provide a place where disabled adults can relax, find community, and have fun together. Money raised through Give STL will go a long way to providing recreational and creative opportunities to disabled adults. Monthly we hold a program called Community Activities Meeting People (C.A.M.P.) which allows adults to have a place to meet and build community in the Greater St Louis area. Eventually we want to have a yearly overnight camp program. Another thing CPP is working towards is making Power Soccer more accessible through a recreational team and homemade guards (The Revolution Guard).
Throughout all of the programs the CPP is running, the ultimate goal is to give disabled adults in the greater St. Louis area a place to find community. Many organizations for people with disabilities focus on kids and have an age cut off for support. Our funding goes towards covering accessible transportation, activity costs, and ensuring hands-on support for all members. With your help, we will create a space for people to connect, grow in their independence, and have fun without having to navigate the barriers that can exist in non-accessible spaces. The impact of having enough funding to support all our programs is massive and gives disabled adults a place to find others who understand what it's like to live with a disability.
