The BGG Foundation was established in 2022 with the mission to empower socioeconomically disadvantaged youth by utilizing gaming to lead them to higher education. Founded by Robert Powell, a former marketing manager at Sony PlayStation. His passion for giving back inspired him to introduce PlayStation gaming programs into the St. Louis public school system. This initiative sparked discussions with principals, teachers, and parents about the critical thinking challenges facing youth. Recognizing the need for structured support, Robert established the BGG Foundation to empower students and enhance their critical thinking skills through gaming.
Today, the BGG Foundation offers impactful programs throughout St. Louis County and City. One cornerstone initiative is "Gaming @ The Library" developed in partnership with the St. Louis County Library. This program creates safe environments where youth can explore gaming as a tool for social interaction and personal growth. The impact of gaming at the library encourages youth to forge friendships and develop essential critical thinking skills.
Additionally, the BGG Foundation hosts the "Got Game Tournament" in St. Louis County. This attracts participants from diverse backgrounds and fostering community. Our "Battle 4 the Lou" program organizes tournaments across the city, uniting young gamers from both county and city. These initiatives bridge gaps between communities, promoting positive youth development.
The BGG Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives of young people in St. Louis, empowering them to think critically and engage positively with their peers.
