The Barking Bridge Project is a St. Louis based organization led by a board of 100% volunteers. As a team, we recognized that there is a large gap between available resources and the needs of companion animals and their humans in rural, southern Missouri. Our mission is to bring animals and needed resources together in these areas, as well as educating the community about issues that result when those needs aren't met. Our focus has been on reducing overpopulation by providing financial support for spay and neuters, assisting with scheduling the procedures, as well as coordinating transport to rescues in different areas where the animals have a much higher chance of being adopted.

We have recently begun our "Grid Program" to help find those most in need of our resources and assistance. Our local volunteers divided our focus region into a grid and identified key areas that would benefit the most from our help. They literally go door to door to help educate residents on how our available programs can offer support they sometimes desperately need. We sincerely value the face to face conversations and relationships we are able to form as a result of this work. This grassroots approach creates trust and connections that help us better understand the needs of the community, allowing us to offer resources to residents that they may not have known were available.

The word 'Bridge' is important in our name because we want to "bridge" the gap between rural areas and the services they need but also focus on collaboration and building "bridges" between our organization and other animal welfare groups. To inspire and sustain positive change, we must work together. Many organizations have special talents and focuses, and nothing makes us happier than being able to help connect the skills that our partners offer with the needs of the communities that we serve.

We appreciate and value the support we have gained from the communities we serve and look forward to the amazing things that we can accomplish in the future!
