We Listen. We Care. We Respond.

Behavioral Health Response (BHR) is a leader in providing education, coordination, and barrier-free services that improve wellness, enhance quality of life, and save lives. BHR is the only 24/7 confidential crisis hotline in the region staffed by a diverse team of compassionate professionals offering live answers and connections to invaluable resources to youth and adults dealing with mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges.

By leveraging advanced telephone, chat, and text systems seamlessly integrated with electronic health records, our team can answer your call within 30 seconds and provide the best care possible. Our comprehensive trauma-informed services include crisis intervention, community education, face-to-face assessments (in person or virtually), next-day urgent appointments through our strategic partnerships with community mental health centers, outreach, and telehealth services to public hospitals and community behavioral health clinics.

In 2023, BHR responded to an impressive 142,069 inbound calls, 1,819 texts, and 541 chats, showcasing our unwavering commitment to helping those in need.

BHR is the largest 988 provider in Missouri and has been a trailblazing model organization for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline since its inception in 2005.

BHR's Justice & Crisis Response Unit (J-CRU) has revolutionized crisis intervention with its innovative street triage co-responder model. This pioneering approach pairs a mental health professional with a St. Louis Metropolitan PD officer, creating a dynamic team equipped to address behavioral health concerns in real time. By joining forces, they provide a seamless and comprehensive response to the community's diverse needs, ensuring that individuals in crisis receive the support and care they deserve. This collaborative partnership enhances public safety and fosters a deeper understanding and empathy within the community.

Support our 24/7 service tailored exclusively for the residents of St. Louis City by donating today. When individuals in our community dial 911 seeking assistance, they deserve more than just emergency response. That's where our innovative approach shines.

Picture this: a call comes in, and the 911 Communication Center dispatcher swiftly evaluates the situation. In cases where connecting the caller with a mental health professional could make a significant difference, they seamlessly transfer the call to our crisis line. Here, our dedicated professionals step in, engaging in compassionate conversations and providing vital support throughout the crisis.

This is where you come in. Your donation directly fuels our programs, a critical initiative that ensures our community has access to crisis phone services. By offering this targeted alternative, we can redirect resources where emergency response may not be necessary, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our city's crisis response system.

Your support for BHR will help us continue to provide essential services to those in need, ensuring that every call for help receives the right response at the right time. Join us in making a difference in the lives of our neighbors today.
