Mission Statement: 

Our mission is to rescue American Eskimo dogs in life-threatening situations and place them in loving homes.

American Eskimo Rescue of St. Louis (AER) rescues dogs from shelters, animal control, and owner surrenders, with many arriving in terrible condition and needing immediate medical care. In today's economy, families are often unable to provide necessary vet work, and we step in to give these dogs a second chance.

This year, we have taken in dogs like Darla and Sweet Pea, who came from a hoarding situation where they lived in crates 24/7. Both required extensive care, including vaccinations, grooming, and spay procedures. Sweet Pea will also need knee surgery. Cases like these are common: many dogs arrive unvaccinated, unspayed/unneutered, and in need of urgent treatment and rehabilitation.

We are a foster-based, volunteer-run rescue with no paid employees and no physical shelter. Every dog we take in receives medical care, including exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and treatment for infections and other conditions before being placed in a loving home.

Our Need:

Our greatest need is funding for medical expenses. This Give STL Day, we are working toward a $1,500 goal to help cover Sweet Pea’s knee surgery and the ongoing care of dogs like Darla. Donations made today also help unlock matching funds and power hour prizes, allowing your gift to go even further.

Without support, we cannot continue our mission. For 25 years, we have worked to save abused and unwanted Eskies across St. Louis, the midwest, and surrounding areas. With your help, we can continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs who have nowhere else to go.
